Lyddia holding her son Rexton

Lyddia Revell

Mother of Rexton, San Antonio, TX

When our son, Rexton, was born premature at 23 weeks, we had never heard of NEC. We learned very quickly about the signs and symptoms and the steps our NICU took in effort to prevent it. Despite those precautions, Rex still developed NEC, suddenly and without warning, at 20 days old. In a matter of 8 hours we were saying goodbye as this awful disease took his life. My family and I honor his life through our commitment to raising awareness and supporting the NEC Society’s mission to build a world without NEC.
