Host an Event for the NEC Society

Every event, from family benefits and walks to runs, golf outings, galas, dinner parties, barbecues, bake sales, garage sales, and beyond, plays a vital role in advancing the NEC Society’s mission.

Honor a loved one & support the NEC Society

Many families choose to organize local events to honor the children and families affected by NEC. It’s a meaningful way to recognize a birthday, milestone, or significant anniversary.

These events are a great opportunity to share your story, raise awareness, and provide the NEC Society with the necessary resources to fuel our work.

Courageous Cash table
Shannan hosts an annual walk during NEC Awareness Month to honor her son, Cash, who tragically passed away from NEC.

How to Get Started

  1. Determine the most comfortable way to share how NEC affected your family.
  2. Set a fundraising goal and communicate why you support the NEC Society, a tax- exempt nonprofit organization (EIN#: 46-4426455).
  3. We understand that fundraising can feel uncomfortable but remember that your friends, family, colleagues, and community want to support you.
  4. Pick a date and send a save the date by email, text messaging, social media.
  5. Create a budget for food, beverages, venue costs, and giveaways.
  6. Find a venue. Some great suggestions:
    • Your backyard, golf course, local restaurant, bowling alley
    • Local park and beach – please check with your local officials to confirm you can host
    • Any venue that will bring people out to support you!
  7. If you’re working with a local business or company, offer to highlight their support in your outreach as an incentive and acknowledgment for helping.
  8. Be sure to tag the NEC Society (@necsociety) in all your communications and use the hashtag #preventNEC
