Jamie’s son, Cooper, was born with NEC in a very atypical presentation of the disease. He thankfully recovered, and Jamie quickly realized that there is scant research or awareness about long term consequences for NEC survivors. Jamie lives in Salt Lake City, Utah with her husband and her two spunky children, and has worked with the governor’s office to establish NEC Awareness Day in Utah. In her day job she works as a genetic counselor with a focus on hereditary cancer syndromes.
