NEC Society Policies
Inclusivity Statement
The Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC) Society is a 501(c)(3) nonpartisan organization that deliberately prioritizes equity, diversity, and environmental sustainability. The NEC Society works to build an ever more inclusive community, both internal and external to our organization. We aim to ensure all individuals and groups touched by NEC see themselves reflected within the organization and feel a sense of belonging. The NEC Society works to elevate women, people of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, people with disabilities, and groups that have been historically marginalized.
We recognize that simply valuing diversity, inclusion, and sustainability is not enough. The NEC Society is dedicated to transforming our values into action, and we are constantly working to improve. We are stronger together. Together, we are better equipped to build a more just, equitable world without this devastating disease. Protecting the health of our babies demands that we protect families, our natural environment, and communities. We are committed to advancing NEC research that prioritizes the health of our babies, and we recognize that the health of our babies goes hand in hand with the health of our planet. We strive to support scientific discovery that results in better outcomes for our babies while using responsible practices that contribute to a healthier future for generations to come.
The NEC Society is committed to doing all we can to help build an inclusive, equitable, healthy, and sustainable world without NEC.
