Research Interests

NEC is of course, a very devastating disease and to vanquish it, a multi-pronged strategy must be utilized. I am interested in the role of probiotics in preventing NEC as well as the use of near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) to assess the risk of developing NEC.

Current Projects

I am the site (South Miami Hospital) Principal Investigator in a multicenter, randomized controlled trial evaluating the efficacy of probiotics in the prevention of NEC.
