We blazed new paths in 2023 and cannot wait to transform what is possible for babies and families in 2024.

Impact Report 2022
Our community is paving new paths toward a world where infants & families never experience the devastation of necrotizing enterocolitis. This December, my family is grieving the 10th anniversary of our son Micah’s passing. As we grieve, we stand in awe of the NEC Society’s growth and impact, thanks to people like you. Your persistence, resilience, and belief in a movement bigger than any one of us are propelling the NEC Society’s vision. As we celebrate our progress, we know there is so much more work to do. Your collective stories inspire us to keep going, and your continued support allows us to redefine what is possible. Together, we are moving mountains for babies & families.
Our Impact 2021 What began as an audacious idea has turned into an international movement: a world without NEC. Thanks to our generous community of supporters, we are advancing NEC research, education, and advocacy, at an unprecedented pace. As we celebrate the NEC Society’s accomplishments and anticipate an impactful 2022, we hold space for those who are grieving and struggling with the devastation of NEC. Thank you for believing in the NEC Society. Together, we are building a more just, equitable world without NEC.

Like each of us, the NEC Society began 2020 with specific plans, goals, and a vision for the possibilities of 2020. Of course, our best-laid plans were promptly upended when the pandemic swept across the country. Undoubtedly, this year has been challenging on so many levels. While we were forced to hit pause on our work in the spring, the NEC Society team revised our plans to reflect the limitations and realities of COVID-19.

Thanks to our generous community of supporters, in 2019 the NEC Society brought us closer to a world without necrotizing enterocolitis. Over the last year, we’ve engaged thousands of diverse stakeholders from around the globe. Together, we’ve launched research projects, empowered families affected by NEC, and elevated the status of this devastating disease so we can garner more research funding.

The NEC Society is a young organization, without an office and with very limited resources. We are led by two bereaved mothers who’ve teamed up with the world’s leading champions for improved NEC outcomes and prevention. Since the organization’s birth in 2014, we’ve reached thousands of impacted families, clinicians and researchers, internationally.
