The NEC Society, a 501(c)(3) patient-led organization, is honored to welcome Martin Blakely, MD, MS and Simone Rosito, MA to the organization’s Board of Directors. Martin Blakely is a pediatric surgeon and scientist who has dedicated his career to understanding and improving outcomes for babies with necrotizing enterocolitis. Simone Rosito founded Pequenos Grandes Guerreiros, a charity in Brazil, after her nephew Antonio was diagnosed with NEC and tragically passed away from complications of the disease.
Jennifer Canvasser, founder and executive director of the NEC Society, shares, “It is an honor to welcome Marty and Simone to the Board. They each bring unique and crucial perspectives and expertise to the organization. I know Marty and Simone will be integral to accelerating the NEC Society’s momentum towards a world without this devastating disease.”
The NEC Society’s Board of Directors governs the organization and ensures our priorities and finances are well aligned with our strategic plan and vision. To learn more, visit NECsociety.org
