The NEC Society, a 501(c)(3) patient-led organization, is honored to welcome Dr. Samir Gadepalli to the organization’s Board of Directors. Dr. Gadepalli is a pediatric surgeon at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor who served on the Scientific Advisory Council since the organization was founded in 2014. Dr. Gadepalli s transitioning to the Board to better support the NEC Society’s rapid growth and expansion.
Dr. Gadepalli is eager to use his advocacy skills to further advance the NEC Society’s vision. Jennifer Canvasser, founder and executive director of the NEC Society, shares, “Dr. Gadepalli cared for my son Micah when he was in the NICU and PICU struggling with complications of necrotizing enterocolitis. When Micah tragically died from NEC, Dr. Gadepalli joined us for his life celebration and has remained dedicated to helping our family build the NEC Society from the ground up. It is an honor to have Dr. Gadepalli transition from the Scientific Council to the Board, where he will help us increase our momentum towards a world without this devastating disease.”
