Research Interests

Basic and translational mechanisms leading to the development of NEC, with a focus on microbial and host interactions, genetic influences and maternal-fetal interactions.

Current NEC research projects
1. Role of toll like receptor signaling in the pathogenesis and prevention of NEC
2. Gut-lung interactions in NEC
3. Properties of milk that prevent and treat NEC in children
4. Gut and lung stem cells in the pathogenesis and treatment of NEC
